#GodInCulture , Post 1

"I think also something that I needed to learn was just because you pray and just because you give it up to God doesn’t mean that you’re gonna win, and doesn’t mean that you’re necessarily gonna have a great performance and all that, but I think there’s something special about playing the right way and having the right attitude even if you don’t necessarily win or have a successful career." - Jeremy Lin (Point Guard for the New York Knicks) #GodInCulture

The Blog Ignites! (First Post)

So we're all about 2 months through the new year, and after being inspired by a friend of mine (check out his blog in the links: J.D. 2.2) I've decided to start up this new blog of mine...

It is my great expectation that this blog will continue to be refined into an awesome site filled with knowledge, resources, and features for people from all walks of life. I'll be posting tons of content including stuff about Bible passages, Christianity, postmodernism, pop culture, and whatever else I feel like discussing :-).

So now as many of you may be wondering... why Descenda & why Shut Up In My Bones? Let's start with the first one. My name (Jordan) is the name of a particularly famous land mark, the Jordan River. The word 'Jordan' derives from the Hebrew word yarad which means descending, descender, down-flowing, one who descends, ect. So one of the many deep aspects of my name, is a constant reminder that I must descend and allow Jesus to arise within my life (John 3:30). I also use it as my stage name whenever I rap. Cool huh? Yup.

Now for the latter question. The book of Jeremiah is my favorite book of the Bible. It has touched me in countless ways and transformed my life. For example, Jeremiah 12:5 is a passage that has helped me get through some tough times of depression. So in short, this book clearly has a special place in my heart for countless reasons. I chose to base this blog off of Jeremiah 20:9 because of the intense nature of the verse and it's appropriate relation to something such as this. We're going to have a lot of fun, discuss a lot of different things, and hopefully be equipped with innovative ideas and resources... but above all else may the Word of God be forever present throughout here!

Thank you for taking the time to check this out! It's my great hope that you will continue on this journey with me through discussion & posting your own thoughts in the comments!
